2026 SIAA Conference Recap: Growth, Grit, and a Whole Lot of Momentum

The 2026 SIAA Conference was one for the books.

There are certain days in this business where you step away from the office, surround yourself with other driven professionals, and come back sharper, more focused, and ready to move. This was one of those days. From the conversations in the hallways to the breakout sessions and keynote moments, it was a reminder of why we do what we do and how much opportunity is still ahead.

One of the highlights of the day was hearing from Zack Gould, a former insurance agent turned growth advisor, who brought a level of honesty and real world experience that resonated with everyone in the room.

Zack’s story is not one built on perfection. It is built on growth, failure, and figuring things out along the way. He shared his journey from being in the trenches as an agent to stepping into a role where he now helps agencies scale and think differently. And one of the biggest takeaways was simple but powerful: failure is not a bad thing. If you find a problem, fix it. That mindset alone can change the trajectory of a business.

He challenged all of us to think differently about business development. Not as a task, but as a discipline.

Referrals, for example, are not something you hope for. They are something you build systems around. He emphasized that your service team plays a bigger role in generating referrals than most agencies realize. When clients feel taken care of at every touchpoint, referrals follow naturally.

He also talked about something we do every single day but rarely think about deeply enough: how we communicate.

Instead of defaulting to the usual “How are you?” on a call, he encouraged us to elevate our language. Ask better questions. Say things that spark real conversation. Create engagement. Because the words we choose shape the experience our clients have with us.

Another big shift he spoke about was moving away from the traditional bundle mindset.

As insurance professionals, our job is not to sell packages. Our job is to educate.

The conversation should not start with “Let’s see if we can bundle and save you money.” It should start with, “Let’s make sure you are covered the right way.” Sometimes that includes combining policies. Sometimes it does not. But when you lead with education, you build trust. And trust is what keeps clients with you long term.

Policies per client was another key theme. The deeper the relationship, the stronger the retention. When you truly understand your client’s world and help them protect it from every angle, you move from being a vendor to being their advisor.

Beyond the keynote, the conference delivered across the board.

We spent time learning more about what SIAA has coming down the pipeline and how agencies across the network are continuing to grow and evolve. The breakout sessions were packed with practical insights, from how to succeed in your first year as an agency, to leveraging technology more effectively, to turning quotes into clients with better processes and messaging.

There were fresh ideas, new tools, and strategies that our team is already bringing back and putting into action.

And of course, it would not be a conference without a little recognition and celebration.

Navigate Risk Advisors was honored to be recognized as the number three top performing agency in Northern Ohio, a milestone that reflects the work our entire team puts in every single day. We were also recognized as a Google Reviews Pacesetter, currently sitting at around 280 reviews and pushing toward that 300 mark.

In addition to agency recognition, it was great to see members of our team recognized for continuing their education and commitment to growth. Holly and K.C. completed The Hartford Small Business Coverage Specialist Program, strengthening their expertise in advising business owners. Jennifer earned her Certified Insurance Service Representative designation, a reflection of her dedication to delivering exceptional service to our clients.

That kind of commitment to learning is what elevates a team from good to great.

We even had a few prize winners on the team, which added a little extra fun to an already great day.

And behind the scenes, none of this would have been possible without our Virtual Assistant team, who kept everything running smoothly back at the office while we stepped away to invest in learning and growth. That kind of support allows us to stay focused on what matters most.

Take a look through the photos from the day and you will see it for yourself. A room full of energy, ideas, and people committed to getting better.

We walked away better than we came in. And that is always the goal.

Looking ahead, there is a lot to be excited about. If this year is any indication, the momentum is only building.

Here’s to continued growth, stronger relationships, and making sure every client we serve is protected the right way.

If you have worked with our team and have not yet left a review, help us get to 300. We would truly appreciate it.

And be sure to check out all the photos from the event on our Facebook page to see the day in action.

Looking forward to seeing what next year holds!
